We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-oriented individuals to join our Library Services team as Senior Customer Service Officers. The successful candidate will have exemplary customer service skills and enjoy interacting with community members of different ages, abilities and cultures.

What this role looks like: 

  • Supervise day to day operations of the library service desk/branch.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to library customers, ensuring their needs are met with a friendly and helpful approach.
  • Resolve high level or escalated customer requests, enquiries and complaints.
  • Actively participate in the planning and delivery of Library programs and activities targeting customers from diverse cultures, abilities and age groups, including presenting regular children's programs.

Based at Castle Hill Library, the successful candidate will be required to work at any branch of The Hills Shire Library Service as rostered including evenings and weekends.

What are we seeking in our new team member:

  • Minimum 3 years in a similar role with experience in a fast-paced customer service environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Library & Information Services or related field or currently undertaking.
  • Driver License (Class C - NSW) and a valid Working with Children Check.

About the role

An exciting opportunity has become available to join Merri-bek Libraries. This is a permanent full-time role working across our libraries based in Brunswick and Brunswick West.

The Library Technician (Collection Maintenance/Administration) role is responsible for providing high-quality customer service and targeted library and information services to our diverse community. This role includes digital literacy assistance and other library initiatives to bridge the digital divide, assistance with library events and activities, providing collection maintenance and assisting with acquisition of library materials, monitoring and facilitating meeting room bookings and shift supervision of library officers when the most senior staff member available.

Your new role

Council is seeking an energetic and customer-focused individual for the role of Library Officer who understands the dynamics of a modern library.

As a Library Officer, you will bring enthusiasm and excellent interpersonal skills to the role, delivering high-quality customer service to a diverse range of community members.

You may work across various library areas, including circulation, technology assistance, processing, Home Delivery, and shelving.

The role requires flexibility, as there are no set hours. You will work on an 'as needs' basis to meet the position's requirements, including on-call availability, weekend shifts, and working at different sites according to the library roster.

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

What we are looking for

  • Ability to work adhoc shifts including weekend shifts as per the library roster across the any of our four libraries in the Rockhampton Region.
  • Highly effective communication skills to relate to children, teenagers, adults and seniors.
  • Passion for providing excellent customer service to the community.
  • An interest in public libraries, digital technologies, and a commitment to promoting reading literacy and lifelong learning.
  • Ability to undertake physical work that involves regular and repetitive movements such as bending, squatting and pushing trolleys, with ability to carry and lift up to 15kg

  • A Higher School Certificate or equivalent qualifications and experience;
  • A current ‘Paid Worker – Working with Children’s Check’ clearance (NSW);

  • An ability to work in a team environment;
  • An ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks;
  • Strong and effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
  • An ability to refer matters to senior staff on duty as appropriate;
  • Knowledge of installation and maintenance of Library technologies
  • An ability to work evening and weekend shifts as required;
  • A Class C Drivers Licence
  • Previous public library work experience
