About the Positions

Noarlunga Library is seeking two dynamic and motivated staff to join our team.   

Both positions require people who can deliver exceptional customer service across our library spaces.  We are looking for people who will be a visible, friendly and welcoming presence. You will also need to be passionate about connecting people with experiences and resources that enrich their lives.

Position 01432 - 30 Hours per week:

We’re looking for a caring and supportive person to support the community through our Home Library Service. 

In this role you will:

  • You will play a key role in fostering inclusion, supporting readers of all ages in access to resources, programs and digital tools. 
  • Provide exceptional customer service to our Home Library Service customers.  An ability to relate to and communicate with older people is a must. 

Position 01454 - 33 Hours per week:

We’re looking for someone to plan and deliver engaging library events for adults. 

In this role you will

  • Plan and deliver events and programs that inspire learning and connection for people of all ages, but primarily for adults
  • Provide quality customer service and digital literacy support by assisting visitors in accessing resources and actively promoting library collections and initiatives.

About You

You are a proactive and innovative communicator with an understanding of the key role that libraries play in building informed and connected communities.  You are collaborative and comfortable with juggling multiple projects. Whether it’s presenting a school holiday event, planning an engaging author talk or delivering library resources as part of the Home Library Service, you will bring energy, creativity, and professionalism to everything you do.

Key Selection Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
  2. Ability to manage time, plan and prioritise projects and tasks and organize work to meet deadlines
  3. Demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment to the role libraries play in supporting all forms of literacy and lifelong learning
  4. Experience in planning, developing, promoting and delivering library events to a wide range of audiences and/or Demonstrated experience in working with older residents, their carers and families.

The role of the Assistant Librarian at Warnbro Community Library is to assist in the management of the library’s operations including assessing and developing various collections, working collaboratively to develop an events program and actively contributing to the marketing and promotion of the library service.

You have experience in a customer focussed environment and are able to communicate effectively with members of the public and staff. You have demonstrated skills in problem solving, time management and are able to demonstrate these skills along with your ability to use initiative. You have a passion for providing excellent customer service and for promoting library services and resources to residents.

To be considered for this role, you must address the following selection criteria as part of your application:

  1. Relevant degree appropriate for eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association.
  2. High level of written and verbal communication skills.
  3. Ability to anticipate and solve problems.
  4. Team leadership and ability to motivate staff.
  5. Experience in planning and implementing community programs and events.
  6. Experience in marketing the library services to the community.

We are offering a gross salary of $83,781 per annum (pro-rata) and:

About the Role

The Information Services and Programs Librarian (ISPL) is responsible for the delivery of effective information and customer service to all members of the community in lifelong learning, digital literacy and technology, reader development, and literacy outcomes.

The ISPL may be rostered as Librarian in Charge (LIC) ensuring the effective delivery of customer service and daily operations of the branch are met. This involves leading the team, prioritising tasks, making decisions, and dealing with issues that may arise.

The incumbent can be rostered to work at any Library branch within the Mornington Peninsula Shire. This position is responsible for promoting the Shire’s values of Integrity, Courage, Openness, Respect and Excellence.

About You

  • Graduate Diploma or Degree library qualification as recognised by ALIA.
  • Customer service experience/extensive successful experience in a frontline customer service role.
  • Significant public library experience and/or experience in a similar work environment.

  • A thorough understanding of the role and function of public libraries in the community and how they contribute to life-long learning.
  • Knowledge of budgetary principles and practices.

The Coordinator Library Customer Service leads the delivery of outstanding customer service across the library network, through the support and development of trained, responsive and engaged staff. Ensuring our processes and services meet the changing needs of the community.

This is a senior leadership role, reporting directly to the Manager of Library and Museum Services with a large team of direct and indirect reports.

You will be drafting and contributing to policy development; planning and delivering the library’s strategic, financial, workforce, information and communications technology and operational plans.

You will also support and develop a team of Customer Service and Branch staff to develop and deliver quality services to internal and external customers through regular Customer Service and Branch meetings, data collection and evaluation, individual work reviews, annual work plans and regular communications

ABOUT YOU

The successful applicant will have:

  • Completion of degree or Post Graduate level library and information studies, conferring eligibility for associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence
  • Experience in a range of roles including at a supervisory level within public libraries, including experience in leading staff teams
  • Demonstrated ability to activate branch libraries with innovative and community inclusive programming
  • Experience in resolving customer issues and providing quality customer services

About the Position

Working within our Community Learning and Libraries Team, The Coordinator Library Programs and Events has the primary responsibility to coordinate the development, delivery and evaluation of library programs and events that support the recreational, cultural and lifelong learning needs of the community.

This role will:

  • Provide leadership and coordination of the library programs and events, ensuring alignment with KPIs and strategic objectives.

Library Assistant - Home Library

Are you passionate about helping others access the joy of reading and learning? We are looking for both part-time and full-time Library Assistants to join our Home Library service team.

In this role, you’ll play a vital part in connecting people who are unable to visit the library in person - such as aged care residents and those who are housebound - with books, resources and technology that support lifelong learning and enjoyment.

You will assist with membership applications, respond to enquiries, deliver professional customer service, and support the promotion of our Home Library service across the community. Your work reflects our values of collaboration, respect and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Select and deliver library materials and resources to aged care facilities and individual customers at home.
  • Assist customers, carers and family members with requests, including use of library technologies.
  • Support the promotion of the Home Library service within the community.
  • Maintain and help manage the Home Library collection.
  • Provide excellent customer service across all library branches as needed.
  • Work collaboratively within a team and across multiple library locations.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • A willingness to work towards (or completion of) a Library & Information qualification or equivalent
  • Current Drivers Licence (Class C) and a clear Service NSW Driving History record. 
  • Working with Children Check number.
  • Provide First Aid or willingness to complete within 3 months of employment.
  • A strong commitment to inclusive customer service, especially for seniors and people with disabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.

  • Hours of work: Full Time, 35 hours per week, with the option of a 19 day month through Council’s flex system. Part Time working 25 hours per week. Applicants must be available work a range of shifts across a 7 day spread, between the hours of 8:00am -9:00pm to support the operational requirements of the libraries.

About the role

Are you an experienced library leader with a passion for innovative, community-focused collections? In this pivotal role, you’ll guide the strategic development and management of our physical and digital resources across Unley Libraries and Unley Toy Libraries, while also leading a dedicated team. You will champion continuous improvement, and ensure our collections reflect community needs, while aligning with statewide policies. From selection and acquisition to cataloguing, maintenance, and promotion, your expertise will shape the way our libraries serve and inspire.

About you

As the collections subject matter expert, your experience will be central to shaping the future of our library services, with a strong focus on improving literacy outcomes and delivering high-quality, responsive collections. You’ll play a key role in managing budgets, supplier relationships, and performance data, and represent Unley Libraries in statewide collections discussions. You will also mentor staff, coordinate volunteers, and contribute to broader library projects and strategic planning as part of the leadership team.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • ALIA-accredited tertiary qualifications in Library and Information Services.
  • Strong knowledge of collection development, cataloguing practices, and digital resources.
  • Proven experience leading high-performing teams in a public library setting.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • A passion for community engagement, literacy, and lifelong learning.
