We are looking for a Library Support Officer who's as passionate about people as they are about systems and collections.

Wollongong City Libraries is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Specialist to join our Community Connections team. This role is central to delivering high-quality programs and services that inspire lifelong learning, creativity, and connection across our diverse community.

In this role, you will lead the development, delivery, and evaluation of children’s programming, including early literacy initiatives, school holiday activities, and special events like Book Week. You’ll champion child safety within our libraries and build meaningful partnerships with local organisations such as early childhood services, schools, and community groups.

You will play a key role in designing and delivering inclusive programs that support and celebrate families in all their diversity—ensuring our libraries are welcoming, engaging, and empowering spaces for every child and caregiver.

This is a Permanent Full-Time position. Salary from $92,236.46 up to $106,378.28 per annum plus superannuation (Salary package will be assessed based on skills, experience and qualifications). This role requires the successful applicants to work on a 7-day roster (weekend and evening work will be required). This is a hands-on role, applicants must be physically capable of undertaking manual tasks relating to the role. You may be required to work across any of our seven libraries across the Wollongong Local Government Area, dependent on operational requirements.

Under Part 2, Section 6 of the Child Protection (Working With Children) Act 2012, this position has been designated as requiring a paid Working With Children Check.

About the Opportunity

About the Role 

As Cranbourne and Digital Resources Manager, you’ll be responsible for the senior leadership of Cranbourne Library, our Library Lounges and our Digital Literacy Team. 

This opportunity will expand your leadership skills beyond that of branch manager as you’ll also play a pivotal role in operationalising the brand-new Cranbourne Library, set to open in 2029 and the Clyde North Library Lounge opening in 2026.

Other aspects of the role include overseeing our library electronic resources and databases in collaboration with the digital literacy team and the Collections and Local History Manager.  

You will:

  • Drive and motivate team members in a collaborative, flexible and supportive manner through change and innovation
  • Communicate skillfully and utilise excellent library services knowledge to ensure high performance and positive community outcomes.

You’ll drive performance, strengthening team capability, and ensuring the consistent delivery of brilliant customer experiences. 

Working alongside fellow Team Leaders in the Community Experience (Libraries) team, you’ll facilitate service excellence, overseeing the day-to-day operations, identifying and acting on opportunities, and ensuring our services are locally responsive. Your leadership will position our libraries as vibrant community hubs, providing outstanding customer support and equitable access to resources. You’ll help create a space where people feel supported, connected, and inspired to learn, explore, and belong.

The Detail:

An exciting new permanent part time role at our award winning City Library!

Shellharbour City Council are looking for a passionate and friendly customer service focused professional. Come and join our energetic, innovative Libraries and Museum team and help us showcase the dynamic services we offer our community.  You will add value to the customer experience by promoting library resources, programs and technology in a friendly and engaging way. A key focus of the role will be to undertake deliveries of resources between library service points and to Home Library clients.
