Join our team as a Casual Library Assistant
At Redland City Council, we’re looking for enthusiastic and friendly Casual Library Assistants to join our team to support our library branches across Redland City Council.
About the role:
As a Library Assistant, you will help create a welcoming and inclusive space for our diverse community. Whether it's assisting customers with our digital resources, supporting local programs, or ensuring our library is safe and accessible for all, you’ll be making a difference every day.
Guided by our Values, you will:
- Deliver professional front-line customer service, assisting library users with loans, returns, and general enquiries
- Help customers navigate our digital library, computers and catalogue systems
- Support the delivery of library programs, events, and promotional activities
- Perform routine library tasks such as shelving, displays, and basic administration
- Promote and uphold a safe and respectful library environment for all.
What you’ll bring:
- A passion for working with people and supporting community access to information
- Strong verbal and interpersonal skills with a positive, helpful attitude
- Confidence using computers, digital platforms, and library systems
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow established procedures
- Sound time management, written communication and attention to detail
- Physical capacity to undertake manual handling and routine physical tasks
- Flexibility to work across various locations and shifts, including weekends
- Desirable: A current driver’s licence (to assist with travel between branches).
