The role 

Mosman Council is seeking an experienced and innovative librarian to drive outreach services at our single-branch library located in Mosman’s civic and cultural precinct. 

With a focus on expanding our services outside the library walls and building enduring community connections, the role also contributes to: 

  • Home library services 
  • The library volunteer program 
  • Supporting the delivery of library programs and events 

Reporting to the Library Community Programs and Engagement Coordinator, this role would suit someone with previous library outreach experience who is confident working independently (often out in the community). 

The role includes an RDO every three weeks, with one weekend shift and/or evening shifts per month.

You will also have experience in delivering a wide variety of public library services including library events, processes and promotions.

Your Position:

This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Library and Community Hub’s creative programs. We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative team member to help deliver high-quality customer service and support a wide range of innovative and creative programs and events.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:-

  • Supporting the Creative Experience Team in delivering a range of high-quality and engaging programs and events in the Hub’s creative spaces
  • Assisting in maintaining a calendar of creative events and help promote programs through outreach and social media
  • Providing positive and friendly customer service, including floor-walking and responding to customer enquiries
  • Actively participating as a member of the team to help evaluate and suggest improvements to services
  • Assisting customers in Library’s technology services and facilities
  • Contributing to the day-to-day operations of the Library and Community Hub including shelving, tidying and supporting weekend shifts

To be successful in this role you will have:-

  • Demonstrated experience in supporting the delivery of creative programs and events, especially those related to digital literacy and creative technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing high quality customer service, including to culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.
  • Strong digital and PC literacy with confidence in using mobile and social media platforms and technology trouble shooting skills.

 About the Role 

We have an opportunity for a temporary full-time Team Leader at Ivanhoe Library. 

The Team Leader Operations will be responsible for quality library services, coordinating the team, and supervising operations to develop, inform and connect with our community.  

You will focus on building and maintaining positive relationships with our member councils and work collaboratively to ensure consistency across YPRL.  

As the Team Leader, your responsibilities will include:

Service Delivery:

About the Role

The Coordinator Cultural Services is responsible for leading the Cultural Services team to ensure Council's Cultural Strategy and its associated actions are delivered to the community. About the role

Council is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Library Technician to join our dynamic team across our vibrant network of public libraries.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for public libraries, excellent people skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality library services.

Reporting to the Library Team Leader (Turamurra), your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the library including circulation, shelving, and returns
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to library users of all ages
  • Support readers’ advisory and basic reference services
  • Assist in the delivery of programs and events (e.g. storytime, author talks, workshops)
  • Perform cataloguing and processing of library materials as required
  • Maintain library collections and displays

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Qualification in Library and Information Science recognized for library technician membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
  • Current Working With Children Check
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a diverse team and interact with the public
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable with library systems and digital tools
  • A passion for books, learning, and community engagement
  • A flexible, team-oriented approach and a willingness to work across multiple library branches
  • Previous experience in a public library or similar customer service environment is desirable, but not essential
