Are you passionate about more than just books? At Mackay Regional Council, our Library Services Traineeship offers you the chance to dive into a world of knowledge and community engagement. Libraries are the heart of the community, and as a Library Services Trainee, you'll play a vital role in setting up and facilitating our diverse range of community programs. From yoga sessions to workshops on carnivorous plants, you'll be at the forefront of creating enriching experiences for our community.
Timeframe and Qualification:
This is an 18-month traineeship. On completion you will obtain a Certificate IV in Library and Information Services.
This is a traineeship and is ideal for school leavers, those new to the industry or seeking a career change. Eligibility criteria apply if you hold existing qualifications in this area.

What you will need to succeed:
- An enthusiastic and outgoing people-person.
- Desire to learn public speaking skills in a variety of group settings, including children, teens and adults.
- An interest in front and back of house library services, including customer service, memberships, cataloguing, community programs and technical support.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Desire to provide a high level of service to internal and external customers.
- You're a team player, with the ability to learn from, and grow positive relationships with others.
- Working with Children Blue card or willing to obtain.
- Successful completion of Year 10 is desirable, but not required.

Under Queensland legislation, you must hold the Blue Card prior to commencing employment – No Card, No Start policy.
