The Opportunity
Moonee Valley City Council is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Library Collections Support Officer to join our Libraries and Learning team. This role supports the delivery of resource sharing via Libraries Victoria by manual handling and processing library materials to ensure efficient delivery. Key Responsibilities
Receive, unpack, and prepare library materials for internal and external circulation amongst the Libraries Victoria network and Moonee Valley Libraries branches
Assist with Library Administration duties required for efficient circulation of incoming and outgoing book, audio visual and other material.
Ensure customers have a positive experience with Council by providing prompt, accurate, courteous, and consistent customer service.
Contribute to Library Administrative tasks such as financial processes, daily roster adjustments, and enquiries from customers
General maintenance of stack collection.
Ensure the library environment remains welcoming, clean, and accessible.
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will have completed Year 12 (or equivalent) and bring demonstrated customer service experience, ideally in a public library setting. You’ll have a good understanding of the role libraries play in the community, strong communication and teamwork skills, and the ability to follow procedures accurately — especially relating to manual handling and processing materials. Proficiency with digital technology and library-related systems, as well as basic time management and problem-solving skills, are essential. Some experience working in technical services or with library promotions is desirable.
