About us
The City of Kingston is south-east of Melbourne and is approximately 20km from Melbourne's CBD. We employ over 1,450 people in a diverse range of roles including engineering, customer service, administration, finance, family, youth and children's services, sport and recreation, health, parks and gardens, planning, arts and management.
Kingston Libraries are part of the Social Development Team at Kingston City Council.
Council operates nine public library branches, with major sites at Chelsea, Cheltenham, Parkdale and Westall, and minor sites at Clarinda, Dingley Village, Highett, Moorabbin and Patterson Lakes.
Branch Libraries are the delivery point for library services and form important partnerships with local community groups, organisations, schools, and work with Member Council departments to provide collections, programs and services to achieve the library's vision of a thriving and connected community with equal opportunities for people to engage in life-long learning and achieve personal success.
The role
Kingston Libraries is seeking a full time Branch Coordinator for Parkdale, Westall and Clarinda branches. The Branch Manager is responsible for ensuring a high standard of service delivery to Library customers within the Branch through the effective leadership of the branch team and daily management of the branch operations.
Reporting to the Team Leader Library and Customer Service, and working closely with all Team Leaders your role is to:
- Coordinate the day to day operations of branch libraries
- Develop and build a team of customer focused staff
- Build the brand of Kingston Libraries
- Increase membership and support the quality of services, information and collection to meet the customers’ needs
- Implement programs and service to meet the diverse needs of the community
About you
To ensure success, you will possess the following:
- A degree in library and information management or relevant community engagement qualification or relevant experience
- Demonstrated successful experience in a library environment or strong leadership role in community services area and customer service
- Proven liaison, advocacy and communication skills with the capacity to develop and maintain positive and effective relationships and partnerships with library members and a wide range of community groups
- The ability to lead, motivate and develop other staff with persuasion and influencing skills
- The ability to build productive networks and establish and maintain relationships with people at all levels
- Current Victorian drivers' licence and requirement to provide own transport
